In a shocking incident, three children died on Sunday in Raipur’s Dr Bihimrao Ambedkar govt hospital due to disruption in oxygen supply.

According to reports, the incident took place when oxygen supply operator Ravi Chandra fell asleep after drinking, while still on duty. He did not realise that oxygen supply in hospital’s SSNCU had disrupted as a result of which the children passed away.

According to sources, the negligence could have resulted in more deaths had doctors not been keeping a close eye on patients’ blood pressure. Around 50-60 patients in the hospital are dependent on oxygen.

It is important to note that the urfortunate news comes a few days after Gorakhpur hospital tragedy. More than 60 children had died in Baba Raghav Das Medical College, allegedly due to disruption in the supply of oxygen to the institution over unpaid dues to the supplier company.

Meanwhile, police have arrested the operator. An inquiry has also been ordered into the matter.
