Amid the bitter JD(U)-RJD feud in Bihar, Tejashwi Yadav has asked Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to let him retain the official bungalow he received while serving as the Deputy Chief Minister of the state.
In a letter written to Nitish Kumar, Tejashwi asked the CM to let him keep the bungalow at 5, Circular Road bungalow in Patna.
Apparently, Tejashwi wrote the letter after last week he received a notice to vacate the building and give it to current Deputy CM Sushil Modi.
Tejashwi has been asked to take the house where Sushil Modi is currently staying, reports NDTV.
Notably, the idea to ask a favour from Nitish Kumar comes at a time when Tejashwi and father Lalu Prasad Yadav have been trying to corner the CM, following his decision to break grand alliance and sided ways with Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) to form the government in the state.
Reportedly, Tejashwi Yadav cited the incident, when Nitish Kumar had allowed Sushil Modi to retain his residence after JD-U split away from National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in 2013.
Meanwhile, the opposition RJD is also pressing the demand of resignation of CM Nitish Kumar and Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi for their involvement in Rs 1,000 crore Srijan scam.
“Both of them should resign as Srijan scam happened in their knowledge and they protected the main accused,” Tejashwi Yadav said.
The scam involves a Bhagalpur-based NGO Srijan Mahila Vikas Sahyog Samiti Limited, which provided vocational training to women.
The NGO allegedly pilfered funds meant for the government’s welfare schemes from the bank accounts of the Bhagalpur district administration.
Following the RJD’s demand, the Chief Minister on August 17 recommended a Central Bureau of Investigation probe into the matter.
