Terrorists on Saturday attacked a police party in Anatnag area of Southern Kashmir.  As per news agency ANI, 1 policeman was killed and 2 were injured in the attack.

The attack happened late in the evening when a police patrolling party was attacked by a militant group. The attack took place just 500 yards from the venue of home Minister Rajnath Singh’s meeting.

Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh who is in town on a 4-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir is supposed to attend a public meeting in Anantnag tomorrow. This attack just hours before the event raises alarm on the security arrangements in the area.

In his four day tour the Home Minister is expected to meet to state Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and Governor N.N Vohra to discuss the resolution of ongoing issues in the valley.

The deceased cop has been identified as Constable Imtiyaz Ahmad and the area has been cordoned by the security forces who are now tracking the terrorists.

The other two injured policemen have been admitted to the nearby District Hospital.
