Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam’s (DMK) working president MK Stalin is likely to meet C Vidyasagar Rao, governor of Tamil Nadu today at around 5 PM. In the meet called, Stalin is expected to stress on the on the need for a ‘trial of strength’ in the assembly of the state.
The delegation led by Stalin will also have Congress MLAs.
Earlier on August 31st, a delegation of Opposition parties (DMK, the Congress, the Communist Party of India (CPI) and the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPM)) had met the President, Ram Nath Kovind, seeking an immediate floor test in the Assembly alleging that the ruling government was not capable of ruling the state.

The parties also alleged that the current government has also lost the power to rule as it has been reduced with almost 21 MLAs owing their allegiance with TTV Dinakaran’s AIADMK faction. The demand for the floor test came in after the support of 21 MLAs backing CM Palanisamy was withdrawn.
Commenting on the matter, CPM leader Sitaram Yechury claimed that a party cannot rule till it commands the mandate of the state.
Floor test is the only solution, Yechury added.
