Karnataka BJP Yuva Morcha has sent a legal notice to eminent writer and historian Ramchandra Guha for linking journalist Gauri Lankesh’s murder with BJP and RSS.
Guha has been accused of leveling direct charges against Sangh Parivar for Lankesh’s murder.
“It was likely that Gauri’s murderers came from the same Sangh Parivar from which the murderers of [Govind] Pansare, [Narendra] Dabholkar and [MM] Kalburgi came,” Guha had said after the murder.
Taking offence to Guha’a remarks, Karnataka BJP has asked the historian to immediately apologise for his ‘baseless allegations’ or face legal action.
“Your deliberate, false and calculated statement against our client’s organisation has caused great anguish in the minds thousands of its members and sympathisers. Your baseless utterances are also calculated to influence and mislead the on-going investigations of the said incidents. This amounts to illegal interference in the course of justice and is also a grave offence,” the notice reads.
Gauri Lankesh, editor of a Kannada weekly and noted critic of the extreme right-wing was shot dead at her home in Bengaluru last week.
