In a major security lapse at the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) Delhi, a passenger successfully managed to board a SpiceJet aircraft with a kitchen knife.
In an official statement issued by Spicejet after the incident, the airline said that the incident came to light when the passenger on board Delhi-Goa SpiceJet flight SG 144 himself reported to cabin crew that he was carrying a kitchen knife in his hand baggage. “The aircraft was at that point still on ground. The SpiceJet staff immediately brought the matter to the attention of the CISF,” the statement adds.
As soon as the passenger revealed that he was carrying a knife, he was thrown out of the aircraft and handed over to the airport police.
There are even reports that MoS PMO Jitendra Singh was also in the aircraft when the entire drama took place.
The Ministry of Aviation recently released a ‘No-Fly List’ rules. As per the rules, if a person flouts the basic rules and displays disruptive behaviour on board a plane, he/she can face a flying ban from three months to lifetime.
