In the latest update in the Ram Rahim case, police arrested another prominent member of Dera Sacha Sauda, Dilawar Insan. He has been arrested on charges of instigating violence in Panchkula post CBI court’s verdict on Gurmeet Ram Rahim on August 25.
Dilawar, who is also the spokesperson of Dera, had earlier given a statement to media a day after the court verdict, saying that “injustice” had been done to their ‘Guruji’.
At least 30 people were killed and several others were injured in the violence that broke out in Panchkula and several other places. Ram Rahim Singh, who has been sentenced to 20 years in prison on August 28, is currently serving his punishment at Sonaria jail in Rohtak.
Last week, the authorities conducted searches at the Dera Sacha Sauda headquarters near Sirsa town in Haryana for three consecutive days with hundreds of security personnel and local administration.
In the meantime, the police have also launched a manhunt for Honeypreet Singh Insan, the ‘adopted’ daughter of Gurmeet Ram Rahim. Her photographs have been pasted at several police stations bordering Nepal.
