On the occasion of Vijayadashami, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be attending Dussehra festival celebrations at Red Fort in New Delhi today. Taking to his Twitter account on Saturday, PM Modi while wishing the nation on Dussehra said, “Greetings to everyone on the auspicious occasion of Vijaya Dashmi.” PM Modi who first attended the Dussehra celebration during his first year in power as Prime Minister, will be his second time when he will be attending the Dussehra celebrations. Previously, former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, along with Congress party president Sonia Gandhi had attended Dussehra celebration at the Red Fort.

Surprisingly, Bollywood actor John Abrahim will also be seen during the Dussehra celebrations in the national capital. He was invited as a special guest by the Lav Kush Ramlila Committee for Ravana Dahan. As part of last year’s celebrations, Bollywood star Ajay Devgan was invited for Ravana Dahan.Bharatiya Janata Party president Amit Shah and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will also be seen sharing the same platform during the Dussehra celebration as both the leaders have been invited

In 2016, PM Modi was present in Lucknow on the occasion of Dussehra. The Prime Minister celebrated the festival with the actors at the Aishbagh Ramleela Ground. 

Speaking of last year’s celebrations, PM Modi spoke about terrorism as the festival had come after India conducted surgical strikes when Indian Army soldiers across the Line of Control (LoC) in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK) burst terror outfits and also revenged the Uri attack where 18 Indian soldiers were martyred. PM Modi had also stressed upon women empowerment and said that women need to be respected and treated right, no matter what religion or background one comes from.

Talking about this year’s celebrations, President Ram Nath Kovind, Vice-President Venkaiah Naidu, Delhi BJP President Manoj Tewari, Union Minister Harsh Vardhan, are also expected to attend the celebrations.
