DP Yadav gets life imprisonment

DEHRADUN: Former Uttar Pradesh Minister DP Yadav, who was convicted in Mahendra Singh Bharti murder case, was on Tuesday awarded life imprisonment by the special CBI court in Dehradun.

He was found guilty on February 8 of murdering Mahendra Singh Bhati in 1992 who was the MLA from Ghaziabad’s Dadri area.

The CBI had taken up the case in 1993, and had submitted a charge-sheet against eight persons including DP Yadav. Four of the accused died during the trial.

On February 28 this year, CBI declared DP Yadav, Pal Singh, Karan Yadav, and Praneet Bhati in Mahendra Singh Bhati’s guilty of Bhati’s murder and convicted the four under sections 302 (murder), 307 (attempt to murder) and 120B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
