NEW DELHI: Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is expected to challenge summons, according to the reports. He was summoned as an accused by a special court in the coal scam on Wednesday.

Congress is likely to pass a resolution to express support to Manmohan Singh. An emergency meet has been called where all MPs of Congress Working Committee (CWC) will be present at AICC today. The Party President Sonia Gandhi will come ‎to express solidarity with Manmohan.

The court has also named industrialist Kumar Mangalam Birla, former Coal Secretary PC Parakh and three others as accused. They have been asked to appear in the court on April 8.

The court has summoned Manmohan under section 409 of IPC which is criminal conspiracy and breach of trust by public servant or by banker.

"Judicial process will take its course. I'm upset but I'm sure that I will be able to clear my name. These are facts of life," Manmohan Singh told reporters while reacting to the summons.
