Troubled All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) leader VK Sasikala has been asked to resubmit her application with more details and affidavits after applying for a 15-day parole to the central jail authorities on Tuesday to meet her ill husband M Natarajan in Chennai. Sasikala’s lawyer G Sukumaran while speaking to a news agency said that she still stands a chance as her application had not been rejected completely as she is only asked  to resubmit her plea with more details and supporting documents.

The lawyer further added that her application was not taken into consideration because it failed to meet the parole rules. Due to the fact that Sasikala has completed her six months of simple imprisonment on August 14 is what makes her eligible to apply for a possible parole. “As she is serving simple imprisonment since February 15, she is entitled to parole as an ordinary prisoner. She has to fulfil certain requirements for parole, for which we will resubmit the application by Wednesday, the lawyer said.

“She (Sasikala) applied today (Tuesday) for 15-day parole to visit Chennai and meet her husband who is seriously ill,” Parpanna Agrahara Central Jail Superintendent M. Somashekar told news agencies. The official said that her parole demand and subsequent duration will be decided within a few days.”The decision on parole and its duration will be decided in a couple of days in consultation with authorities concerned,” the official said.

While claiming that her application has not been rejected but withheld on technical grounds, AIADMK’s Karnataka unit President Pugazendi said that the paperwork will be done shortly. “It’s a rumour that her application has been rejected. It’s not rejected but withheld on technical grounds. The Jail Superintendent has asked her lawyers to resubmit the application with more details and affidavits. It will be done,” Pugazendi said.
