In a tragic incident being reported from Greater Noida, a minor student was allegedly molested by a bookseller on the premises of the school. According to reports, the child was being molested on several occasions for past few years. The victim has been identified as a student of class 6. As per the media reports, the child was raped by the school’s bookseller in the school premises. The incident took place at Kaushalya World School of Greater Noida. After the matter was highlighted, the police took the cognizance of the reports and arrested the accused.

The 11-year-old boy a Nigerian national went to the stationary shop to purchase a notebook when he was tricked inside by the shopkeeper who raped him. The boy told his parents about the incident on returning back home from school. His mother then filed a FIR with the local police station and immediate action was taken. SP Suniti Singh said that the after the victim’s medical examination it was confirmed that he has been raped. The accused has been nabbed and strict action will be taken against him, she added.

Greater Noida which falls in the National Capital Region (NCR) area surrounding capital Delhi is touted as one of the most unsafe areas with a majority of criminal offenses reported from the area on a regular basis. Greater Noida also houses several educational institutions including schools and colleges which raises an alarm on the vulnerability of the area. Earlier this year 4 women were allegedly assaulted by a group of men on the Yamuna Expressway and a family member was shot dead in Greater Noida’s Jewar.

Safety of students inside school premises is regularly being scrutinised in Delhi and neighbouring areas after a 2nd standard student Pradhyuman Thakur was allegedly murdered inside the toilet of Ryan International School in Gurugram. The 7-year-old’s body with his throat slit was found inside the washroom. A bus conductor had committed to the crime with but CBI is investigating the case and is still to draw a conclusion. CBI were handed the case after victim’s father demanded a full proof investigation. Days after Pradhyuman’s murder a 5-year-old child was raped inside an empty classroom of Tagore Public School by the school peon. The crime came to light when the child complained of bleeding and pain in her private parts to her mother. She was taken to a hospital where a medical examination confirmed sexual assault. This incident now in Greater Noida further highlights the need of proper security of school children.
