Speaking on the issue of introducing new trains after Finance Minister Arun Jaitley presented the Union Budget 2017, the Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu on Wednesday said, “There is no mention of new trains, as they have nothing to do with the budget.”
Further speaking on advancement in railway sector, the Union Railway Minister said, “Already working on coach mitra, bio-toilets, dedicated trains for pilgrimage and track innovation for safety.”
In a first, the Railway Budget, that up till now used to be presented in a separate presentation, was merged with the general budget.
The Finance Minister while presenting the budget mentioned about several schemes that the government was planning to bring to improve the Indian Railways.
One of the key announcement that FM Jaitley announced during his budget speech to transform railways was that by the year 2019 all passenger coaches of railways will be fitted with bio-toilets.
