Thursday, October 12, verdict by the Allahabad High Court in the 2008 Noida double murder — Aarushi Talwar and Hemraj (Domestic help) — came as a relief to Nupur Talwar and Rajesh Talwar as the Court acquitted the parents on the lack of substantial evidence. The ruling by the Allahabad High Court was hailed by the medical fraternity however, the domestic helps feel that they have been denied justice in the case as the parents of Aarushi Talwar got away with murder by the use of their power.

In the ruling passed, the High Court not only set the Talwars free but also said that there were numerous loopholes in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) submissions to the court which weakened the case further. According to a report by PTI, the neighbours of the Talwars seemed to be in a diplomatic situations with statements like, “If not the Talwars, then who killed Aarushi? However, we are happy that they have been acquitted.”

Meanwhile the representative of the Association of Medical Clinics of Noida said that the parents have now got the justice. The case which finally got rested after 9-years made headline on May 16, 2008, after 14-year-old Aarushi Talwar was found murdered in her bedroom with her throat slit with a surgical precision (used by doctors). Initial investigation by the local police suggested that the murder was done by the house help Hemraj. However, the case made the headlines after the body of the initial suspect was found from the terrace of the same flat after 2 days.

On the other side, Hemraj (Nepalese domestic help) who was the other victim on 2008 Noida double murder case, gained support from the Nepalese domestic helps, with them coming forward and saying that they have been denied justice. While talking to PTI, one domestic help said that the rich can get themselves acquitted; Talwars getting away is justice denied. Another said, “Hemraj’s relatives should challenge the acquittal at the Supreme Court.”
