Yogi Adityanath led Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in Uttar Pradesh, which has been in the headlines for its rising crime against women, again finds it in corner after a woman was allegedly gangraped gun point before her husband, with constant threats of killing her 2-year-old child. The incident was reported from Muzaffarnagar district of Uttar Pradesh. According to reports, the victim, a 25-year-old woman, was gangraped by four men on Friday noon.

According to the complaint filed by the victim, four men dragged her to a factory nearby and took turns to rape her. She also said that the accused were equipped with gun and were constantly threatening her and her husband. While speaking to the media, the victim said, “Four men dragged me to a sugar cane farm and raped me. They constantly threatened to kill my child, also tied and beat up my husband. The men also constantly threatened to kill my child.”

Commenting on the matter, the investigating police official said that an FIR has been registered in the case and special teams have been formed to nab the absconding accused. He also said that both victim and her husband have been sent for medical examination and results are awaited. “FIR has been registered, medical examination of both the victim and her husband being done; investigation underway, “he said.

Uttar Pradesh government which is being led by Yogi Adityanath, who had promised to stop the crimes against women before he had come to power, is facing constant pressure from opposition over rising number of crimes against women in the state.

On September 30, an assistant sub inspector (ASI) of police in Rampur in Uttar Pradesh was sent to prison for an alleged rape attempt on a 7-year-old girl inside a police post. The incident took place on Saturday night and the accused was sent to prison on Sunday.
