Disabled athletes participating in the Ghaziabad 15th National Para-Athletic Championship were treated inhumanly.

Over 600 athletes have been crammed into a couple of partially constructed buildings that will serve as their dorms for the three-day championship.

Forget being disabled-friendly, the buildings are unfurnished and don't even have functional toilets or even drinking water. The male and female athletes have been forced to sleep on the floor and bathe and defecate in the open.

Meanwhile, the Sports Minister has reacted to NewsX report and demanded a detailed report.

Union Sports Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said, “Differently-abled athletes and their well-being are top priority for us. We are examining the matter & looking into the reasons for mismanagement of this event.” He added that detailed report has been asked from Paralympic Committee of India on National Para-Athletic Games.
