A Jain couple from Madhya Pradesh has decided to give up their Rs 100 Cr business and their 3-year-old daughter to attain monkhood. Sumit Rathore, 35, and his wife Anamika, 34, are scheduled to take ‘deeksha’ (the first step of their initiation into monkhood) under Sudhamargi Jain Acharya Ramlal Maharaj at Surat in Gujarat on September 23.
This announcement from the couple has left everyone shocked and the question arises, who will take care of their daughter? Sumit’s father, Rajendra Singh Rathore came to the rescue of the couple and said that he will take care of his granddaughter.
Rajendra Singh Rathore runs a factory that manufactures sacks for cement companies. He is also a former Neemuch district president of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Singh also mentioned that he expected this to happen but not so soon.
Sumit announced his final decision of renunciation at a gathering of Acharya Ramlal held at Surat in August this year.
