We have often seen film stars and sports personalities sharing their fitness regime videos on social media platforms. Politicians from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Rajnath Singh and others are also seen indulging into health activities like yoga when shutterbugs caught them. In a first, DMK acting president has shared a video of his workout regime in a gym. The video captioned ‘Never Give Up’ and MK Stalin can be seen doing cardio exercises and lifting weights. He is also seen on a chain pulley machine and doing the biceps curl.

Political experts call this move a PR strategy used by the DMK scion to strengthen his public image. The video has taken the internet by storm and has left the party workers in frenzy. The video starts with the message “attitude and effort defines you.” While some believe the video is out to strengthen his image as he goes through a political turmoil, other senior leaders of his own party call it unnecessary. DMK spokesperson A Saravanan told India Today, “Stalin believes in a strict diet and health regime. The video shows how he is able to maintain health and take work seriously.” Saravanan added that this was not an image-building strategy but just a message. “He doesn’t need to enhance his political image through this. He is the tallest leader now,” he added.

Madurai Central MLA, Palanivel Thiaga Rajan told India Today, “first thing to point is that it is not an official release. He is an extremely disciplined person. Despite a busy schedule, he maintains his health. That’s how he stays fit because he is focused and disciplined.”

“Lot of changes are taking place in politics, he had been asking us to stay fit. I used to be fit but because of hectic schedule, my fitness routine was disrupted. This video was internally circulated among MLAs and district secretaries. Somebody has taken that video and edited with music and text. It was not intentional. It was more like encouragement for us. We have not traced the person who did it. It’s not intended as a PR exercise and is not posted on the official page of DMK,” added Rajan.
