All the ‘glam-n-glitz’ of the star-studded 70th BAFTA awards

Hollywood romantic musical ‘La La Land’ on Sunday won five awards out of its eleven nominations at the 70th BAFTA Awards. The ceremony, where Indian-origin British actor Dev Patel bagged the Best Supporting Actor honour for ‘Lion’, also saw celebrities making political statements uninhibitedly.

    Britain's Prince William, the Duke of Cambridge, and Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge, attended the British Academy Film Awards at Royal Albert Hall in London. Prince William awarded the BAFTA Fellowship to 90-year-old comedian and filmmaker Mel Brooks.

    In the Supporting Actor category, Dev Patel's act in "Lion" - which also won the Best Adapted Screenplay title for Luke Davies - won among the men, and among the women, Viola Davis took home the honour.

    Casey Affleck's work in 'Manchester By The Sea' won him the Best Leading Actor honour respectively at the 70th BAFTA Awards ceremony held in London, for playing a man who looks after his teenage nephew after the boy's father dies. He was competing with Andrew Garfield, Jake Gyllenhaal, Ryan Gosling and Viggo Mortensen.

    Emma Stone's role as an aspiring actress in romantic musical comedy-drama film "La La Land" won her the Best Actress award. For the ceremony, Stone chose to wear matching trousers under her Chanel dress which had a plunging neckline.

    Actress Meryl Streep, who was nominated for her performance in "Florence Foster Jenkins", also attended the British Academy Film Awards (BAFTA) at Royal Albert Hall in Britain.
