Protests have taken place in Kolkata over Centre’s stand on Rohingya refugees.
The Centre has set up a task force to identify Rohingya Muslims in different states so that the process of deporting them can take place since they are illegal immigrants in India.

Meanwhile politics has taken centre stage over the humanitarian crisis. The Congress has accused the Centre of doing injustice to the Rohingyas and said that the govt must give them shelter.

Father Tom, abducted by IS in Yemen, rescued; to return home soon

In a big diplomatic win for India, Kerala priest father Tom who was abducted by IS has been rescued from Yemen and is all set to return to India soon. Father Tom has been rescued with constant efforts of the Indian foreign ministry. Father Tom uz-Unna Lil was abducted by Isis in March 2016 after an attack on an old people’s home run by missionaries in the southern port city of Aden.

Sasikala ousted as gen secy, Dinakaran plans ‘war’

Sasikala has been expelled as AIADMK Gen Secy. In fact, the AIADMK resolution says that Amma will be the eternal Gen Secy of the party. OPS- EPS will hold the party reins.
