In this episode of Flashback we celebrate the birth anniversary of Bollywood’s complete actor Sanjeev Kumar.
Sanjeev Kumar was born as Harihar Jethalal Jariwala on 9 July 1938, to a Gujarati family in Bombay. He started his acting career as a stage actor with IPTA in Mumbai and later he joined the Indian National Theatre. He made his first film debut by playing a small role in ‘Hum Hindustani’ in 1960. Sanjeev Kumar won the National Film Award for Best Actor for ‘Dastak’ in 1971 and ‘Koshish’ in 1973.
He won the Filmfare Best Actor Award for ‘Aandhi’ in 1976 and for ‘Arjun Pandit’ in 1977. He also won the Filmfare Best Supporting Actor for ‘Shikar’ in 1969. Sanjeev Kumar is an actor who had played many elderly roles, but ironically died on 6 November 1985 at the age of 47. We pay tribute to this
