In a few hours, PM Modi will land in Tamil Nadu with the sole purpose of kick-starting the NDA’S poll campaign in the state. Now, the alliance has never really made any inroads in Tamil Nadu where Dravidian parties have ruled the roost, but this time there’s a ray of hope, in the form of Tamil Nadu’s captain Vijayakanth.
A hand of friendship has been extended, but Vijayakanth has kept everyone guessing on who he will ally with. Now, while there aren’t, realistically speaking, any chances of the BJP winning the election, the fight essentially is for pride. After the Delhi and Bihar debacle, the Prime Minister as well as Amit Shah are gunning for a good showing. Another question also looms—if Vijayakanth in fact does choose to join the NDA alliance will the BJP then choose captain over PM Modi to lead their campaign?
