Insight: Will fight for traitors, won’t eulogise our braves
18 Indian braves were killed in cold blood by a cowardly enemy that respects no law and certainly has no regard for human life. The attack has shocked India.
A majority of Indians today have saluted their heroism but unfortunately there remains a very influential minority Who enjoy the support of some mainstream political parties who have not thought it necessary to pay homage to our saviors. These individuals include some who recently sparked off a
national debate in JNU by speaking up for traitors and who describe themselves as humanists. They portray themselves as spokespeople for ‘insaaniyat’, so we are rather perplexed over their silence.
Is it their case that India’s jawans have no human rights and therefore don’t deserve any advocacy? Do they believe that because our brave soldiers draw a salary they don’t deserve any sympathy? Do they believe that the Indian Army is an occupying force in J&K so deserves no support? What holds them back from speaking up for those who sacrifice so our children can sleep in peace?
