Nation at 9 : Does a Ban on Dance Bars mean Freedom of Consenting Adults is under attack?

In a dramatic development today, the Supreme Court lifted the ban on Dance Bars in Maharashtra, seeking that with a fair regulations dance bars can make a comeback in Maharashtra. But while people rejoiced the decision, the Maha government stepped in.

 

The name of morality, CM Devendra Fadavis said the govt would challenge the decision of the apex court. But it’s thrown up a larger debate on morality and the Maha govt’s stand on the same— is any form of moral policing acceptable? We’re not just talking about raiding couples in hotels or attacking partygoers but even infringing on your rights in the name of morality or in this case, on the right to earn a livelihood.
