Moments after the Supreme Court put the brakes on an opportunistic move to lift the ban on Jallikattu, angry political parties and civil groups have hit the streets in protest. Realising the fallout of the SC order on electoral fortunes and attempting to deflect blame, the Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa has even shot off a letter to the Prime Minister asking him to immediately issue an ordinance before Pongal.
