Bengaluru has been rocked by another hate or racist crime. Five young people, mainly students – four from Kerala and one from Nepal – have been assaulted, beaten up with a bamboo stick by five locals, who called them ‘outsiders’. One of the victims has had to have nine stitches on his head.
This incident comes barely after a month of a Tanzanian woman being allegedly stripped and paraded naked in the city for no fault of hers. We all get very upset, justifiably so, when hate attacks take place against Indians in the West. But have we become any less?
