On a day when chief minister Siddaramaiah hoped to corner Yeddyurappa over corruption, he himself landed in a nepotism row.

His younger son, Dr Yathindra Siddaramaiah, manages to wrest a government contract for a super specialty path lab in a government-funded hospital. He claims as a free citizen he bid and won the tender based solely on ‘merit’ not ‘lineage’.

But the opposition holds up the code of conduct crying it’s a conflict of interest. They ask how can the son of the chief minister do business with the government?

Earlier accused of extravagant splurges this time the chief minister faces sterner charges of ‘impropriety’ and even ‘illegality’…Question is. Will he float or sink?
