Known by its chief Mohan Bhagwat, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) also comprises of a lesser known yet strong brigade of women who have helped in towering the pillars of its women’s wing.

The Rashtra Sevika Samiti is the largest Hindu nationalist women’s organisation which parallels the RSS for men. Laxmibai Kelkar also known as ‘Mousiji’ took up the matter of forming a women’s wing on the ideological lines of the RSS and became its first president in the year 1936 and rest is history.
