DELHI: Delhi university students have started a unique poster campaign protesting the hostel norms across the country. It is known to all that, all the women’s hostel across the country do not allow girls to stay out after dark. However, the students now have come up with this idea of campaigning showing their protest against this norm.
Girls have come out on the roads to break this sexist rule. They want to be liberated and not be bound by such rules which acts like a discriminatory act. This campaign aims to target that kind of regressive mindset.
The students justify their campaign on the reason that just because the city is not safe, that doesn’t mean they should not be allowed to stay out after dark.
However, some protesters have alleged that they have received threat calls to intimidate them and to discontinue the campaign. They have filed an FIR against these threat calls.
Women, not just from Delhi University, but from Jamia Milia Islamia, Jawahar Lal Nehru University, National Law University and Ambedkar University as well have also joined the campaign.
