#BeefMurder: 8 out of 11 accused related to BJP leader; Sangeet Som promises them bail

NEW DELHI: In the tragic Dadri incident where Mohammad Akhlaq was killed by a mob for allegedly eating beef near Delhi last week, a fresh development has left the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in shock and embarrassment. According to the reports, the bunch of people that brutally murdered Akhlaq was an assortment of school dropouts and job seekers, while none of them held any crime record.
Reports suggest that eight out of 11 accused are related to local BJP leader Sanjay Rana.
20-year-old Vishal Rana, the prime accused in the case is the son of Sanjay Rana and he reportedly organized the meeting in which the mob was guided to attack Akhlaq and his family. (Also Read: Dadri Beef Lynching Case: BJP Leader's son, UP Homeguard arrested for spreading beef rumour)
Vishal quit studies after class 12 reportedly because he was not keeping well now works at the advertising agency of his brother-in-law in South Delhi.
On the other hand, 22-year-old Vivek and his 20-year-old brother Sachin who work their father Om Kumar with his electricity appliances repair business are also reported to be the close associates of Rana.
Apart from them, accused Saurabh, Gaurav, Shivam and Sandeep are also allegedly related to the saffron party leader.
21-year-old Saurabh and brother Gaurav, 22 are sons of contractor Dheeraj Singh. While Gaurav after completing his graduation started studying law, Saurabh on the other hand was on a job hunt.
19-year-old Shivam, son of a farmer is studying the second year of his Medical Lab Technology degree course.
Son of an accountant at a brick kiln, Sandeep, 18 has just finished his schooling.
Accused Hari Om, 23 and brother Shri Om, 20 worked in a private factory. The mob also included 23-year-old Rupendra who is still studying in college. His father now working as a guard is a retired army man.
All 10 accused in the case are neighbours in the Bisara village. They were allegedly a part of the large group that attacked Akhlaq and his family. After dragging Akhlaq out his house, the mob beat the poor man to death after rumours started spreading that he had eaten beef. While Akhlaq died on the spot, his son Danish was critically injured in the attack. (Also Read: Mob kills a man over beef eating rumours, son critically injured)
The controversial BJP lawmaker, Sangeet Som who is out on bail on charges of inciting riots in 2013 Muzaffarnagar met the families of the accused on Sunday and promised to get bail for them. Som also
threatened a ‘befitting reply if innocents are framed’.
“People are falsely implicated in the case and the villagers are actually living in fear. We would not allow injustice to the accused and have reassured the same to the families of the accused. We have promised help to the accused and the victim’s kin will be tried for cow slaughter,” said the BJP MLA.
Soon after Sangeet Som’s meeting with the families of the accused, the opposition slammed the BJP and expressed that BJP is targeting the minority in the area and are once again spreading hate amongst the people. They believe that the move is actually to polarize the Bihar polls.
On the other hand, Akhlaq's family is currently in the UP Bhavan and is not expected to return to Bisara Village. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister has assured them that if the family wants, their belongings will be shifted. Air Force had earlier assured that they can move to the air station in Dadri. Akhlaq's elder brother has a house in Dadri, they may move there as well.
