NEW DELHI: Vijender Gupta, Leader of Opposition in the Delhi Vidhan Sabha on Monday alleged that the Delhi Government headed by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has cleared the scheme to sell water to weaker sections in 29 unauthorized colonies at Rs. 5/ per 20 Litres.
He accused them on the ground that the government which claimed to provide water free of cost up to 20,000 litres will now sell the water to the weaker sections of the society at such high rate.
Mr. Gupta also said that the Delhi Jal Board sells water at 10 paisa per 20 litres which if calculated, amounts to Rs. 5 for 1000 litres, whereas, the AAP Government is providing only 20 litres at the same price.
He also alleged that the AAP Government has violated the rules and has awarded 500 crores contract to a single firm, but as per the rule, at least three competitors should be there for tendering procedure to be complete and fair.
He urged Lt. Governor, Najeeb Jung to initiate CBI inquiry into the matter.
He also said that he will meet senior police officers, along with Mr. O P Sharma and Jagdish Pradhan, asking them to register an FIR and initiate a probe into the matter.
