Hotelier killed over delay in tea service

HYDERABAD: In a shocking crime episode from Hyderabad, two identified assailants stabbed a hotel owner to death in broad daylight following an argument over tea on Friday, police informed.

The incident occurred in the busy Begumpet area here, police said.

The altercation started over the delay in serving tea. As two men tried to assault a hotel employee, the owner of the place Jehangir intervened into the matter after which the customers left warning Jehangir of dire consequences.

The customers later returned and attacked the hotel owner with daggers as other customers encountered the scene in horror.

After a man tried to intervene into the incident, the attackers fled from the spot. While he was being shifted to a nearby hospital, Jehangir succumbed to the injuries.

The images of the attack were captured on the CCTV camera on the road. Police suspect involvement of two men with criminal records in the incident and with the help of the CCTV footage; they are trying to identify them.

Old enmity between the hotel owner and the assailants is one of the angles being suspected to be the cause of the murder.
