CHENNAI: It seems there is no relief for Tamil Nadu from the continuous heavy rains and the death toll has now increased to 95.
Famous places around Chennai such as the Marina Beach have been flooded following the nonstop rain.
On Monday morning, rainfall of 27 cm was recorded in Chennai till 5:30 AM and this is still not the end as the Met department has predicted more rains that will hamper the Tamil Nadu capital and other coastal areas on Monday.
Not only are schools and colleges shut, train services too have been disrupted due to the wild rains.
The State government in the process of protecting people has evacuated those living in low lying areas. Boats are being used in the flooded areas to rescue people from the affected areas.
Fishermen have also been warned against venturing into the sea in the wake of the latest weather forecast.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa is being strongly criticized after she gave a statement saying, “Losses are unavoidable when there is very heavy rainfall.”
