Seven people were killed this morning when a helicopter carrying Vaishno Devi pilgrims crashed near Katra in Jammu region, police said.
According to the police, the pilot also died in the crash. Further investigations are currently being done to look for survivors.
The helicopter services start from Katra on the foothills and the flight drops the passengers at Sanjhichatt for visiting the sacred Shrine.
The flight from Katra to Sanjichhat takes a total of approximately 8 minutes and can carry six to eight passengers in one go.
The crash took place in Reasi district which is situated in the Shivalik hills and is located at 1528 metres above mean sea level.
