Experiencing one of the century’s worst rainfall, Tami Nadu’s capital Chennai is completely sub-merged. Rain continues to pour in the city affecting normal life and creating chaos. Apart from wrecking homes in the city, the rains have severely disrupted flights, train and bus services.
Schools in the city are likely to postpone scheduled exams as the forecast has predicted more showers and thunderstorms in the coming days.
Chennai airport will remain shut for all operations till 6 am tomorrow.
It is estimated that about 5 million are marooned.
To boost relief operations in the most affected rain-hit areas, the strength of the NDRF teams has been doubled from 12-24. All adjoining helicopter fleets close to the State have been diverted to Chennai.
