New Delhi: CJI TS Thakur today supported Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's decision to allow odd-even traffic formula on Delhi roads to control increasing pollution in the city.

Delhi CM Kejriwal welcomed CJI's support and said, "CJI TS Thakur's support is an encouragement for Delhi government and will inspire the people of Delhi to support the cause".

Delhi CM also tweeted:

Earlier on Saturday, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had said that the decision of allowing private vehicles with even-odd registration numbers on alternate days was a contingency step and would be discontinued if it caused inconvenience to the public.

Delhi government has said that they are going to review the entire situation and after that they will take a call.

Relenting Kejriwal’s move, BJP spokesperson Sidharth Nath Singh said, "Kejriwal has not put a mind behind giving a solution to the problem. It needs a drastic step but certainly it needs a holistic kind of approach".

Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit also criticised AAP party's move and said, "Autowalas and Taxiwalas are the biggest supporters of the AAP party but who at the moment are very angry with the party; therefore I feel this move is another way to make autowalas and taxiwalas happy...."

Both Congress and BJP had earlier relented Delhi government’s odd-even car number formula and said that it was an impractical idea for controlling pollution in the city.
