Delhi building collapse claims one life, injures five

NEW DELHI: Five people were injured and one died after the basement of a building under construction collapsed in New Friends colony in the national capital. 
The victims have been identified as labourers who were digging out soil from the basement when the incident took place. The deceased has been identified as Chotu who was in his 50s. 
Delhi police and fire tenders rushed to the spot. The police have also lodged an FIR against the contractor, Bhajan Lal Sharma. A case of negligence has been registered against the owner of the building.
The incident took place around 10 am in the New Friends colony, which is one of the posh and affluent neighbourhoods in South Delhi.
In South Delhi, a few days back another building had collapsed at an unauthorised colony in Safdarjung Enclave.  Fortunately there was no loss of life during that incident.
