Two engineers shot dead in Bihar
Patna: Two engineers from a private construction company were shot dead on Saturday by two motorcycle-borne unidentified people in Bihar's Darbhanga district. They had received calls for ransom only a week ago, according to the police.
"The two engineers were killed near Shivram village under Baheri police station," a district police official said, both were engaged in road repair work, the police added.
Both were taken to Darbhanga Medical College and Hospital where they were declared as "brought dead", Deputy Superintendent of Police Dilnawaz Khan said. Police suspect that they were killed for not paying ransom.
Bihar Police Chief P.K. Thakur held a meeting with top police officials after the incident.
Six suspected people were arrested in this connection, police said. Police could not immediately ascertain any cause behind the attack.
"Probe is on. We are looking from all angles including demand of rangdari (unofficial tax) by criminals from the road construction company," said a police official. ( with inputs from IANS)
