CHENNAI: Former Tamil Nadu Agriculture Minister S.S. Krishnamoorthy and Chief Engineer Senthil were arrested on Saturday night by the Crime Branch – Criminal Investigation Department (CB-CID) of the State police in connection with the suicide of senior engineer S. Muthukumarasamy in Tirunelveli on February 20.
Both Krishnamoorthy and Senthil have been produced in court today and sent to 15 days judicial custody.
According to the sources, Krishnamoorthy was summoned for questioning in the case and later, he was arrested.
Based on allegations, Muthukumarasamy, Assistant Executive Engineer in the department of Agriculture Engineering was under pressure by Krishnamoorthy. Because of this, Muthukumarasamy allegedly jumped in front of a train bas he was under pressure by Krishnamoorthy’s office while recruiting seven drivers.
Along with Krishnamoorthy, Chief Engineer Senthil was also arrested based on the call records and he was called in for questioning late last night and then taken into custody.
Muthukumarasamy’s son had alleged that his father had received a flurry of calls from the Chief Engineer Senthil.
