NEW DELHI: After Aviation Minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju, another leader of the Modi brigade has invited controversy and shame for the Bharatiya Janata Party. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has asked the cinemas owners in Maharashtra to show Marathi movies during Prime Time (6PM to 9PM).

The statement from Fadnavis has attracted massive criticism from both within and outside the film fraternity.

According to the new orders, it will now be mandatory to play a song in respect to Dada Saheb Falke. Earlier, national anthem was the only compulsion.

While Mukesh Bhatt has criticized the new order announced by the Maharashtra government, renowned author Shobha De too has expressed her views on matter on the micro-blogging site Twitter.

marathi films

It is like much ado over nothing. In cities like Bangalore or Chennai, their own regional cinema is well promoted by state by the way of relaxing taxes or reserving a slot in theatres for the films not doing so well. Secondly non marathi people have serious apathy towards marathi culture. Does any non maharashtrian barring a few exceptions know that lot ofmarathi movies have got a place at the prestigious 'Berlin festival ' and likes of it?but unfortunately such classy movies aren't promoted well and instead of scaling heights of recognition and economics they simply go un noticed as their weak leg continues to be finance. And multiplexes with around 10-15 screens can easily accommodate a movie on one of their screens in a prime time. It would be a big help to some real artists. And last but certainly not the least... Shobha de as a pseudo intellectual will continue with her blabbers forever. This a******e can't stomach the class of Ayn Rand or likes of her. So people like shobha must simply be ignored.
