Fabindia bosses appear before Goa police

PANAJI: Days after summoned by Goa police, Fabindia bosses, including Managing Director William Bissell and CEO Subrata Dutta, along with eight senior officials on Friday appeared before the Goa Police Crime Branch in connection with the Union HRD minister Smriti Irani’s voyeurism case.

A Crime Branch official said, “We are questioning them in connection with the CCTV snooping case.”

Earlier, MD Bissell, CEO Dutta and others were summoned by police but they repeatedly sought time.

Last week, four junior employees of Fabindia were arrested by Calangute police after Union HRD Minister Smriti Irani alleged that it had a CCTV camera focusing at the trial room but they were released after a day on conditional bail.

The store manager, Chaitrali Sawant, got anticipatory bail on April 7 and is being questioned by the Crime Branch officials.

Last week, Union Minister Smriti Irani, who had visited the Fabindia store along with her husband during a two-day visit to Goa, spotted a hidden camera in the Fabindia store facing at the trial room.
