KANPUR: A day after Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut’s demand of revocation of Muslims’ voting rights in Mumbai, controversial BJP MP Sakshi Maharaj on Sunday said, “Those refusing to birth control methods should not be allowed to vote in the country.”
“There are communities that do not adopt family planning methods. They should be deprived of voting rights,” he said, adding that the politics of appeasement will not work the country, it should end now.
During a function, Sakshi said, “Girls of particular community are given scholarships, while temples of the Hindus are being taxed.”
He also supported Sadhvi Deva Thakur’s comment that Muslims and Christians should be sterilised.
Now, Sakshi Maharaj feigned ignorance, saying "He does not know. Haven't heard what Sanjay Raut said."
In the article published in the Shiv Sena’s mouthpeice Saamna, Raut said that Muslims’ voting rights should be revoked. “As long as Muslim votes are for sale, the community will remain backward and its leaders will become rich,” it reads.
