SRINAGAR: One person was killed after the security forces fired at protesters in Narbal in Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday, said reports.
Protesters turned ugly in Narbal village of Badgam near Srinagar, pelted stones on the security forces and smashed vehicles plying on the road.
After the violence, Srinagar is observing shut down as Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani called for a bandh in Kashmir over the arrest of Masarat Alam and the killing of a youth in an encounter.
All shops, schools and government offices are shut down following the protests in the Kashmir valley and the public transport is off the roads.
