KUPWARA: A local Jammu and Kashmir court has announced death sentence for all four convicts in the rape and murder of a 13-year-old school girl Tabinda Gani in Kupwara in 2007.

The atrocious incident occurred eight years ago when four men brutalized a minor while she was on her way back home. She was abducted, raped and murdered by the gang in Kashmir.

The family of the victim had been demanding death sentence for the convicts arguing that the crime falls under the category of ‘rarest of rare’.

The four criminals include Sadiq Mir, Azhar Ahmad Mir, residents of Langate along with two non-locals – Mochi Jahangir Ansari of West Bengal and Suresh Kumar of Rajasthan.
