HYDERABAD: Telugu actress Neetu Agarwal was arrested on Sunday by Andhra Pradesh Police in connection with the smuggling of red sanders in the state.
Agarwal was on the run for last four days after being booked in the case and was finally arrested in Hyderabad on Sunday and shifted to Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh where she was booked on charges of criminal conspiracy under Indian Penal Code (IPC) and other relevant sections of Forest Act, said police.
The 27-year-old actress was produced before a magistrate who sent her to judicial custody.
According to the police, Agarwal was named as accused in the smuggling case booked two months ago in connection with the seizure of 34 logs of the precious wood.
“The actress transferred money through her bank account to an alleged smuggler Balu Naidu. She allegedly did this at the instance of YSR Congress leader Kondampalli Mastan Vali who was an accused in the case and was arrested on April 13,” said police.
Agarwal claimed to have married to Mastan Vali and to be a victim of domestic violence, police added.
The actress played a role in film ‘Prema Prayanam’ which was produced by Vali in 2013.
