NEW DELHI: Escalating the war over the farmer Gajendra Singh’s suicide at an Aam Aadmi Party’s rally in New Delhi last week, the Delhi Police on Wednesday blamed the mob at the kidan rally for inciting the 40-year-old farmer to commit suicide.
The report allegedly submitted to the Union Home Ministry headed by Rajnath Singh has cops blaming the AAP leaders for making provocative speeches during the rally.
The Delhi Police report also accuses the AAP government of trying to stop the post-mortem of deceased farmer Gajendra Singh. (Also Read: Farmer’s Death: What killed Gajendra Singh? Was he keen to make name? Several questions remain unanswered)
Speaking to the media, Delhi Police Commissioner BS Bassi explained that the ‘statement of an eye witness is extremely important for any criminal probe’.
The Delhi Police Chief further added that the investigating officer will examine the significant information and will question all needed people.
Gajendra Singh, a farmer from the Dausa district of Rajasthan committed suicide on last Wednesday by hanging himself from a tree during a rally organized by AAP headed by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal against the land bill at Jantar Mantar. Singh climbed up the tree as the AAP leaders were addressing the crowd and hanged himself with a ‘gamcha’ (towel).
As some people tried to get him down by climbing up, the branch broke and the famer fell on the ground. As he was immediately taken to the hospital, the doctors at the Ram Manohar Lohia hospital declared him ‘brought dead’.
