PUNJAB: A day after a 14-year-old girl was killed and her mother suffered serious injuries after they resisted molesters; the family on Friday alleged that they were being pressurized to compromise with the accused by the administration officials and the police. The mother-daughter duo was thrown out of the moving bus, which is reportedly owned by the Punjab Chief Minister Prakash Singh Badal’s family. The Chief Minister however, called the incident ‘Unfortunate’.
Angry relatives held protest at the Moga civil hospital where the girl’s mother is admitted with severe injuries.
“The police took me away from the protest site and asked to sign some documents, saying ‘let us settle this. Sign the documents and go ahead with the good life’. I can’t read the paper and stamped it with my thumb impression,” the father of the deceased said.
Meanwhile, Union Home Ministry has asked for a report of the incident.
Four accused have been arrested following the incident and booked for murder.
