NEW DELHI: An IAS Officer from Haryana has been arrested by Delhi Police Crime Branch for conspiring to murder his friend, a Delhi based businessman.

Sanjeev Kumar, 1985 batch Officer, was arrested along with gangster Shoukat Pasha and two shooters Taufiq and Manna with weapons for a joint conspiracy to kill the entrepreneur.

Sanjeev was earlier convicted in 2013 by Delhi court for illegally recruiting thousands of junior teachers in Haryana along with former state Chief Minister Om Prakash Chautala, his son Ajay Chautala and 53 others but later was later out on parole.

According to the police, the IAS Officer planned his friend’s murder while he was in Tihar jail in judicial custody last year and reportedly met the gangsters Shoukat Pasha who promised to help him.

Sanjeev allegedly injured himself and was given bail on the basis of medical grounds, said officials.
