MUMBAI: In another case of hit-and-run-case, a 22-year-old girl on Wednesday night died after she was hit by an unknown vehicle on highway at Goregaon in front of Vanrai police station.
According to the reports, the victim kept lying injured in front of Vanrai Police station for around 20 minutes but was not noticed by cops and there is still no clue of the vehicle and driver.
The deceased, identified as Archana Kirit Pandya, was working at Tata Consultancy Services at Goregaon. She met with an accident while returning home, said police.
Archana’s brother told reporters, “I received call from Archana’s number and I was told that my sister had met with an accident and was in critical condition at Balasaheb Thackeray Trauma Care Hospital at Jogeshwari near the highway. I immediately reached hospital where I found my sister dead.”
“My sister got the new job and was very happy with her new job. The incident occurred on the fourth day of his new job. It’s shocking that police don’t have any knowledge about the incident as the incident happened in front of police station,” he added.
The victim was on her way back home when an unknown vehicle hit her on the highway. The accused stopped the vehicle and placed her at footpath and fled from the scene as we assume, said police.
We reached at the spot after getting information and took her to hospital. Nobody helped her as she was lying on the footpath for 15 to 20 minutes, police added.
We have registered a case against unknown accused and are probing the matter, said police.
