UTTAR PRADESH: In a shocking incident from Uttar Pradesh, five Dalit women were stripped, paraded naked and caned by 15 Other Backward Castes (OBC) villagers of Shahjahanpur’s Hareva.

The incident happened because one of the villagers’ minor daughter had eloped with a Dalit’s son. The victims were dragged out of their houses, stripped in the middle of the villages and paraded naked on a highway for over 4 hours till police intervened.

Meanwhile, Sarvesh in his defence claimed, “My daughter, along with her mother, had gone towards field on Wednesday evening when the Dalit’s son Santosh Kumar arrived there on motorcycles along with his friends and kidnapped her.”

“We had gone to boy’s house to convince them that they should return my daughter but our efforts went in vain and we got in anger and it is wrong to accuse us that we had paraded them naked,” he added.

Following the incident, police have arrested four persons, including Sarvesh Kumar Kashyap, father of the girl and cases have been registered against 15 people, including women of their family who were helping them.

State Director of General has ordered an inquiry into the incident and asked the police officers of Shahjahanpur to probe the matter.
